Why should we memorize & meditate in God’s word?

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, (you) if a man love me, he will keep my WORDS
(keep – 5083 in Strong’s – a watch, to guard from loss or injury, properly by keeping the eye upon. By implication to detain in custody, by extension to withhold for personal ends).
and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
(abode – 3438 in Strong’s – a staying, i.e. residence, the act or the place).

I John 2: 3 through 6
3 And hereby we do know (not believe, know) that we know him, if we keep his commandments
(commandments – 1785 – in Strong’s – an injunction, i.e. an authoritative prescription, precept, a precept is a rule of action or behavior).
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:
(Perfect love casts out fear I John 4:18).
hereby know we that we are in him.
(See II Corinthians 1:20).
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk,
(walk – 4043 in Strong’s – to tread all around, especially as proof of ability, fig. to live,deport oneself, follow, be occupied with).
even as he (Jesus) walked.

II Peter 1:3 and 4
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the KNOWLEDGE of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature.
(These great and precious promises are from the heart of God, Psalm 33:11 and paid for by the blood of Jesus.)
